CERTIFICATE IN HOTEL & CATERING
(FETAC level 5 Award)

LHSC delivered this course in 2006/07 and 2007/08 and students achieved distinctions in many modules.

Modules: Food Preparation; Food & Beverage Service; Safety & Health at work; Hospitality & Accommodation; Tourism Awareness; Communications; Work Experience Placements. For more information: Course Content

Entry requirements: Six passes in Leaving Certificate or equivalent; some experience in the hospitality sector is an advantage; interview.

Progression: LHSC has arranged progression paths with Dundalk Institute of Technology (DkIT) and Institute of Technology , Tallaght (ITT). This facilitates students, who have completed the Lismullin course with distinctions in 5 modules and passed an interview, to enter Year 2 of the Advanced Certificate in Tourism Hospitality (FETAC Level 6 Award) programme in either of these Colleges.

Practical Exams for Professional Chefs, designed & delivered by Chefs

LHSC offers chefs with working experience the opportunity of taking this relatively new professional qualification. It is backed by the combined professional chefs bodies of Britain, France and Ireland, who have defined

the exacting standard of the AAA. The qualification process develops and promotes craft skills and preparation is carried out at the student's own pace, under the guidance of a Chef mentor. There are two examination levels, each

involving on-line theory questions, and a full day practical cookery examination, which can be taken at any of several sessions per year in LHSC.

Further programmes

Further programmes in related areas are currently being developed by LHSC to cater for students from Meath and surrounding counties.
